For the HALDEX 4 or 5 system, they recommend oil ONLY replacement at 40000 miles 60000 kms. Its a pointless service, because VW believe that the filter should only be replaced when pump fails! I kid you not. For reference, I have two 4x4 HALDEX5 Octavia#39;s a VRS and a Scout. Excessive wheel spin and haldex slow to engage. Pump replaced under factory warranty. Pump didn#x27;t fix the issue haldex clutch was replaced also and fixed the issue 02-22-2019 02:26 PM #353.... I#x27;ve replaced the rear diff, haldex controller and pump still no luck. So I then went to Audi and updated the haldex controller and still no different!.

Remove top connector to haldex pump lever the little tag back and the connector slides off. Remove 2x hex bolts securing motor. Bottom one clearly visible top one about 12oclock on motor. Note there is a small sandwich plate between the base of the haldex unit and motor, this is fastened with a torxT10 bolt, this does NOT need removing. 2016 S3 63k miles rear end only engages to 20 so spin city with any hard acceleration from stand still. Dealer replaced pump and serviced haldex. they say all is fine. all wheels turn on the lift. Yet under any hard acceleration, it doesn't engage more than 20 via datalog using obd11. Dealer still says its working as it should. I'm done with.

Wheel would spin free like the relief valve was open it wasn#39;t. Fiddled with some things, made sure nothing was leaking and gave it another try. Eventually the wheel would spin with some power forward. Not 100, like 40, maybe. But when the mower was off there was no pressure spinning it backwards by had. It moved freely. It had resistance. It looks like despite regular oil and filter changes I am going to have to replace my Haldex pump. VCDS scan returns. 00448 - Haldex Clutch Pump V181 - 011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent. Took a minute or so, during which time I could hear the Haldex pump cycling up and down and relearning its function. After a while the Pump Basic Setting function quot;Finished Correctlyquot;, and everything started to work properly. The pump relearn can be done. Im just about to go see A4Audi for a diagnostic - they have already quoted 846 for a new haldex controller - OUCH! In the meantime I did some noseying around and found this excellent lead from the Audi TT Forum. However, if the rear wheels still rotate, the Haldex clutch is engaged and possible causes of the fault must be sought: blocked main pressure valve pump, control unit - J492 Haldex clutch is defective, parking brake lamp switch may be defective, mechanical fault on Haldex clutch. 2. Lift the car onto the jack so, that the wheels do not touch. It was seized into the haldex unit body due to ally corrosion and build up. In the end I left the pump in place, replaced the filter which was also a bugger to remove, replaced the oil by pumping it out of the filler hole. Put in new filter and oil and its working fine.

Car is an Audi S3 59plate with a Haldex generation 4 in it , it recently had the strainer clean out where there was some crap , has had oil change , here is a recent Auto scan with the same problem still there now I am worried that the pump could be ready to pack in and as this is a heavy cost to fix I am looking for advice , I don#x27;t own WD so.

A week ago I noticed that the front wheels were spinning on a gravel incline. No aid from the back wheels at all. Car delivered to Skoda workshop and the fault was identified to be the electromotor for the Haldex pump. Pump was replaced today but problem is not solved. Message sent to Skoda factory today. I thought I#x27;d take it for a good run and noticed a whining noise at 70mph, which slowly disappeared, but today I#x27;ve noticed it around 30pmh. Gen 5 Haldex doesn#x27;t have a filter according to Skoda so their service regime for the Haldex unit is simply drain the oil and refil. Also, the Haldex pump is dumb doesn#x27;t report to VCDS on a scan so no fault codes will be present. Any issue with no rear wheel drive is simply put down as quot;Haldex checked and serviced, no fault foundquot; because. A bit annoying as I had the Haldex serviced by main dealer just a month before. They plugged in there box of tricks and yes there was a fault code for AWD system so they had the car in replaced the pump and told me it was all good, but I have to say I couldn't notice any difference and still had wheel spin. From what I gather the problem can be caused by one of several factors including a blocked breather hole, b lack of oil, c haldex pump not working, d rear diff earth strap broken, e bad connectors and f faulty ABS unit. It seems to be a mysterious problem and I wish someone could come up with a definitive answer.

And now I have the UM Haldex tune and I still get some wheel spin not as much as before, but I am stage-2 ECU / Stage-2 TCU w/Meth. Did the tune completely fix it, no. But it did make it feel more planted and more of a push then a pull. I have replaced: Pump Haldex Controller with latest revision and software.
